A New Question

Say someone was to remove energy efficient compact florescent light bulbs, and replace them with incandescent light bulbs.

Would it be better to call them:

Bjorn Lomborg light bulbs
or
Jay Hair light bulbs

I suspect the latter is more appropriate as Lomborg would probably say it was a waste of money to replace them.

(An apology to both people I referred to: I don't know how to get the slash through the o in Bjorn's name. I also realize I should not speak poorly of the dead.)

The Ethics of Ethics?

So, I am left wondering what to do when your ethics (or maybe personal philosophies is the better word) differ from those around you.

Not that those you are around are doing anything illegal or immoral.  Just, different.

What is the correct way to express those differences?  Should you just go out doing what you do best, and allow others to note (or not note) the differences?  Should you be more vocal about what your views are, so that at least others are fully aware?  When, if ever should you try to promote your viewpoint(s)?

For some categories these  decisions have been generally decided.  For vegetarians, you look for ways to alter a meal, or can prepare a separate proportion (for vegans or lactose intolerant, you can just toss out my entire repertoire) .   For religious differences there have been great efforts over time to try and build bridges (and regrettably many wars in attempt to just wipe out the differing religions).

But what about the smaller more personal viewpoints or approaches?

Just wondering

Word of the Year/Sign of the Times?

It seems to me that every once in a while a word will all of the sudden become popular and used all over the place. I have noticed this before but never thought long enough about if there was a connection.

Now I am wondering...

ennui (it's French, so don't even attempt to pronounce it like it is spelled)

I feel like this word has permeated our culture. But is it just the use word, or does it have a deeper meaning in describing the current state of the world, the sign of our times.
