Left in the Dust

Not only can I not keep up with the posting I want to add to this site, it seems I can't keep up with much anymore.

There are emails that I need to write, and events that really need planning and attention.

But my concern is that I am turning obsolete before I can even get started here. I am not podcasting. But even if I was, I fear I would already be lost to the world of vlogs.

Not that would really want to see me. Even if I had as good a selection as Rocketboom, I am not as good looking as Amanda Congdon (note to coworkers -- the secret is out, here is one of my new sources for daily work summary).

While I am pounding away at a keyboard to articulate my point, the younger generation (with Dylan Verdi are leading the way with video.

I already feel like telling the younger staff in my office "back in my day..."

Spring is a time of rebirth and fresh starts. Maybe that's what I need.

Avoid this Movie

The Ballad of Jack and Rose has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Luckily I did not see it all (I should have left even earlier), and I did not pay to see it. Do yourself a favour and avoid this movie.

Ben Snell, is that really you?

I tend to delete stuff that goes to my "potential spam" folder without giving it a second thought.

But something caught my eye this time. While the subject line made no sense, the address claimed to be Ben Snell. Not his usual address, but something really odd.

Is it just that spammers have gotten so good that they know I know someone named Ben Snell, and are faking an address with his name? Or are there lots of Ben Snells in the world, and I have only had the chance to meet one of them? Or do spammers use every name to every person with the hope that one day same fool like me will say "I recognize that name, it must not be spam."

Sorry that my blog had become a repository of questions as of late, but there are just so many things I don't know the answer to.

Crooked Nun

Now that we have the unfun post out of the way...

What the heck does "Crooked Nun" mean???

I woke up in the middle of the night (a few weeks ago), fired up my PDA, and jotted down crooked nun. The PDA has been beeping at me every day since then about this crooked nun, and I just keep ignoring it. I have no idea what it really means or what I intended to do with it once it was on my PDA.

Now that I am passing it on to the rest of the world, I hope there is an answer. Maybe there doesn't need to be an answer. Maybe I just needed to post about it, and it can now come off my PDA and be out of sight/out of mind.

Read it Before it is Gone

I would like to post a warning that you don't have much longer to read some of my posts. In recognition that some of my post that mention my employer, and yet do not provide a balanced view, I intend to edit some of my posts.

I want all of you to know that I love my job, and I love the company I work for. If I did not, I would quit. It is that simple.

But it obviously isn't that simple. I am opinionated (if you haven't picked that up from my prior posts), and sometimes my opinion are not the same as the company I work for.

It is fairly common to have different opinions from other people or companies that you like. It is perfectly fine (at least in my opinion) to be critical when you think the decision is not only wrong. But is telling the whole world your complaint the answer? Sometimes it is, but other times it isn't.

Should one proclaim the great successes and achievements. Certainly. I have chosen not to, as I fear that will give away too much about the company I work for, and will therefore connect my complaints back to my company for the whole world to see. Sure, friends and family know who I work for, but they also know how much I like the work my company does.

Enough rambling from me. Feel free to let me know what you think. I believe I may have an alternate for my negative comments (feel free to contact me directly for details)

-------

Update. I have already edited out most of it. Argh! A nagging pain that I have lost some of the best work on this site (and yes I was stupid enough to not backup any of the writing that I edited or deleted, so my wisdom is lost forever).

I have one more piece, which will probably have to be deleted completely, but I can't bring myself to do that at the moment.

Happy Birthday Karen!

OK, the day is almost over, but I can still wish you a Happy Birthday, right?

Stupid, Useless

OK, it's late, and yes I have some really important blog posts to add (and emails to send), but I am just going to post this for now.

Today in the news they had reports on how dangerous smaller cars are all of the sudden. The reason being that they are now basing side crashes on SUVs (for those who don't know, that stands for Stupid, Useless Vehicle)

What is this? We are placing the blame on the little (and often gas-thrifty) car because of the big bad car on the road.

They have it all wrong, the blame should be placed on the SUV!

From their backwards way of looking at things, it is the small wimpy kid in school (trust me, I understand that role) who gets beat up by the big bully who is at fault. The way I see it, the fault is in the big bully who just smashed into me.
