Aliens Visited Last Night

Note: I apologize in advance. I am never good at fully remembering dreams.

Note2: I do have some other posts coming, the delay is that my life has been too hectic.

Aliens visited last night. They were quite small, or more likely they had miniaturized themselves. Their spacecraft was able to fly into a fairly small room (I think it was a coffee shop, except there were only two of us (I have no idea who the other person was) and no barista).

I have no idea how we were really communicating -- were we talking or was it more telepathic?

Somehow, along the way the other person offered to make the Caesar(OK, just who was this other person in the room, what time frame were they in?), while I suggested President (I didn't know to much about the aliens, but I think I already appreciated them more than our current president.

At some point the aliens talked about the importance of conservation of natural resources. They also seemed to cover topics of miniaturization and magnetism -- they could attach (and unattach) themselves to metal items as desired.

There were other important pieces that I wanted to pass on, but my memory of the dream is fading quickly.

Friends with Fotos (or Phriends with Photos?)

I hope these folks don't mind me listing their websites. I have tried to figure out how to define each of these but I think it is better just to provide the links, and let you check out each of the sites.

Great Software

I know, no one wants to hear about computers and programs (easier to pick up a date by stating you are unemployed rather than a programmer), but I am not expecting to get a date out of my blog anyway (so there).

Crystal Reports
This is a great program for a number of reports. There is a good chance that Microsoft's reporting software will take the place of a lot of Crystal Reports needs. But one cool, and poorly promoted, aspect is that it can report out file and folder information. So if you want an excel list of all of the documents in a folder, or folder and sub-folder tree, the report can do this. You have to install a component of crystal reports, but it can export all of the file data you would want.

MultiMacro
Ever used macros in Word or Excel? It is a great way to deal with a repetitive task. I don't know much about macros, but I can assure you they can be of great benefit. But what if you have a collection of files or documents that you want to run a macro on? MultiMacro is the program. You need to ensure that your macro is properly written, but if it is, you will be really happy to have this program.

iPodder
Are you familiar with podcasting? I have become an addict to a few web broadcasts. Essentially recorded radio shows. The shows are out their on the web just waiting to be downloaded. But iPodder can download schedule downloading the files for you, you can listen whenever works best for you. And of course if it on your computer, you can download it your portable media player (if you own one (which I do not (which makes me a tech rebel))).

Catching up - Inauguration

Sorry for being out of the loop for so long.

I have been busy with a number of things, and these past two days have been fighting some germ or illness.

As for the inauguration, it is interesting to note that commuting was not at all a problem. Metro was running just fine, and the streets around my office were blocked off to traffic. Since there was still snow around but the streets had been cleared (in the argument of which is more important cars or pedestrians, just pay attention to which one gets better treatment when it snows) I just walked down the center of the street.

My one issue was timing for lunch. I went out for lunch at the same time a group of protesters went in for lunch, which made line a little longer than usual.

A group of us were supposed to go out for beer that night ("Drown our sorrows") most of the people did not make it, but we will just have to go out another time.

More great things to come... stay tuned
